Sandbox release disclaimer: Some content in this article outlines how to use functionalities that will be publicly released to all clients at the end of August 2026. If you see differences between this article and your platform, check back at that time. Learn more about the release cycle.
Introduction
After creating an e-learning course or an Instructor-Led Training (ILT) course, configure its settings from the Properties tab of the course. Course properties allow you to customize settings that differ from the platform defaults configured in the Branding and design or Advanced settings menus.
To access the course properties, go to Content and delivery and select Courses, access the course, and open the Properties tab.
The available properties are organized into vertical tabs. Most settings apply to both e-learning and ILT courses. Differences are indicated throughout this article.
Summary and languages
Use the Summary and languages tab to manage the course title, short description, description, and their translations. For e-learning courses, you can also configure the languages available for training materials.
Course summary translations and training material languages are managed separately. You can translate the course summary, the training materials, or both. We recommend translating both to provide learners with a consistent experience.
Learners see translated course information in the language selected in their My profile area, when available. On pre-login pages, such as external catalogs, the platform uses the language selected from the language selector. If a translation is unavailable, the platform displays the course default language.
In administrative areas, course information is always displayed in the course default language.
Note: Language filters do not consider course summary translations. For e-learning courses, filters consider the course default language and training material languages. For ILT courses, they consider the language configured in the course properties.
Course summary
Use this section to manage the course Title, Short description, and Description.
The title and description are required in the default language. They are set when the course is created, and can be modified at any time. The short description is optional and is displayed below the course title on the course page. It can be added only from the Summary and languages tab
You can translate these fields manually or using AI.
The language of the summary fields is determined by the language set in the course creator’s profile at the time the course is created, but you can change it afterwards. You can translate these fields into one or more of the platform’s available languages, using AI or manual translation.
To translate the course summary fields manually, follow these steps:
- Click Manage translations.
- In the right panel, click Add language.
- Select up to 10 languages and click Add languages. To add more languages, repeat these steps.
- Close the panel.
- Select a language from the Course summary dropdown.
- Enter the translated content and save your changes.
The course’s title and description are mandatory in the default language. In additional languages, all fields are optional. If a translation is unavailable, the content is displayed in the course’s default language.
To remove a language, click Manage translations, then click the trash icon next to the language. Removing a language permanently deletes its translations. Learners will see the default-language content instead.
The default language cannot be removed.
See the article Translating the course summary fields with AI for more details on AI-generated translations.
Course language (e-learning courses only)
You can offer the course in multiple languages based on your audience's needs. Use this section to set the default language and optionally add additional languages, choosing from those officially supported by the platform.

Activating e-signature for a course is permanent. You cannot deactivate it once set.
Completion rules (ILT courses only)
Define how many of the learner's enrolled sessions they must complete for the ILT course to be marked Completed:
- At least one completed session: The course is completed when the learner completes at least one enrolled session. This option still applies when the user is enrolled in one session only.
- Percentage of completed sessions: Set the percentage of enrolled sessions the learner must complete.
For example, if a learner is enrolled in four sessions and the required percentage is 50%, the course is completed after two sessions are completed.
Note: Session completion rules are configured separately at session level.
Average time
Set the estimated time required to complete the course. This value is displayed on the course card in catalogs and on the My courses and learning plans page, as well as in the Course details widget.
Superadmins and instructors can use this value in reports to compare estimated and actual completion times.
Course editing restrictions (Superadmins only)
Enable Prevent instructors and Power Users from editing course properties and training material to restrict course management to Superadmins, regardless of the Power User's course permissions.
This section is visible only to Superadmins.
Power Users cannot:
- modify course properties: The Properties tab remains available in read-only mode and Power User keep receiving the Course properties have been changed notification, if active.
- change publication status
- delete or duplicate the course

- assign/unassign Training material library content
- configure equivalencies
Power Users and instructors cannot:
- upload or manage training materials: The Training material and the Folder sections of the course Training material tab remain available in read-only mode, and assignments can still be evaluated
- create or manage course widgets: The Course widgets area of the Training material tab is available in read-only mode. The File repository area widget, is still available. .
This setting improves the granularity of the Courses / Edit permission for Power Users. It allows them to continue managing course enrollments while reserving the ability to perform the above-listed actions exclusively for Superadmins.
You can also enable and disable this option from the Courses page by clicking the ellipsis menu at the end of the course row and selecting Prevent Power Users from editing or Enable Power Users to edit. Perform these actions on multiple courses at once by selecting courses and clicking Choose action to select one of the above options.
Please note. When a Superadmin duplicates a course with the Prevent instructors and Power Users from editing course properties and training material option enabled, the duplicated course inherits this setting.

Learners can still view the course overview page by clicking View course details on the course card in catalogs and channels before enrolling.
Tip. When quick enrollment is enabled, add course widgets that display key course information below the course player, ensuring learners can still access important details.
Quick enrollment is not available when:
- Learners are required to fill in the enrollment additional fields.
- The course enrollment policy is set to Only administrators can enroll learners or Pending administrator approval, in the course properties > Catalog options.

If you set a default discount for affiliates when creating the content partner, the Affiliate price section is automatically calculated based on the standard price, with the default discount of the content partner applied. This field can be changed as desired, but remember that the Affiliate price cannot be higher than the set Standard price (it can only be lower or equal).
Enrollment limitations for courses on sale
When a course is on sale, the settings in the Catalog options tab are handled as follows:

- If Only administrators can enroll learners is configured, learners cannot purchase the course.
Content partners
Use this tab to view the content partners associated with the course. Content partner associations can only be done from the Content partners menu.
Score and credits
Use this tab to manage the initial and final scores of the course. Tracking both scores can be useful to understand if the user's knowledge improved after they took the course.
The course score and earned credits are displayed in the Users - Courses custom report when the corresponding view options are selected, and on certificates when the [course_credits], the [course_score_final], or the [course_score_final_max] shortcodes are included in the certificate template.
Course initial score calculation
Enable the option The score is generated by a training material to activate the initial score calculation, and select the training material used to assign the course initial score among those associated with the course (single selection).
Course final score calculation
Use this area to configure the final score assignment method for this course:
The final score can be:
- The score of the last training material generating a score (default). The training material order is set in the Training material tab.
- The score of a selected training material. Select a training material (single selection).
- The sum of all training material scores associated with the course
- The average of all training material scores associated with the course
Notes on calculation methods:
- Both the sum and the average of the score calculation methods work accurately only if all of the training material associated with the course uses the same units: either points or percentage.
- The sum and average include only visible training materials. If a training material is hidden, its score is not included in the sum or the average.
- If the score is generated by a specific training material, when the training material is removed from the course, the score calculation method is reset to the Use the score of the last training material in the course option
- Both for the initial and the final score calculation options, the training material available for selection and included in the score calculation are SCORM, Tin Can, AICC, assignment, test, LTI, and Elucidat, since these types of training material support the score management.
- A score manually assigned by a Superadmin or Power User is not automatically updated when the learner subsequently completes other scored training material. The score generated by the training material completion is not considered. The displayed score is still the one set by the administrator or Power User.
- Changing the score calculation method recalculates all existing scores, including scores manually assigned by a Superadmin or a Power User. If the score calculation method is changed by a Power User, the recalculation will be carried out for all of the users enrolled in the course, even if not directly managed by the Power User.
The settings you configure in this tab for ILT courses will only apply to the sessions where the evaluation criterion is set to Evaluation based.
Note: SCORM, AICC, xAPI (Tin Can), and LTI packages may include scores. If you want to exclude the score of these packages from the calculation of the course score, make sure that they are not sending any score to the platform. Since the course score calculation takes into consideration all scores, including those set to 0 (zero), if your calculation method is either set to The sum of all scores taken by the user in the course or The average of all scores taken by the user in the course and the external package sends a 0 (zero) score, then it will also be included in the calculation.
Credits (CEUs)
Set the number of credits (CEUs) awarded for the course. Credits can be displayed in custom reports and in the My activities area.
To remove credits from the course, delete the value and save your changes.
Rating and sharing
