Introduction
Sharing course links on LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) serves both the learner and the organization. Learners can highlight their achievements, strengthen their professional profiles, and showcase newly acquired skills. At the same time, your platform gains organic visibility every time a course link is posted, turning learners into ambassadors of your training programs.
You can activate this feature globally across the platform from the platform’s advanced settings, or configure it for individual courses. When this feature is active, learners will see a Share button on the course player page, allowing them to share the course link either after completing the course or at any time.
When course links are shared on LinkedIn and X, social network users can click on them, but they will be able to actually access the course only if they are platform-registered users.
As it happens for the courses available in public catalogs, links shared on social networks do not display the course preview for security reasons.
Warning. At this time, due to a communication issue between the platform and LinkedIn, neither the preview nor the posts shared on LinkedIn display the course details.
Configuring social sharing for all courses
To enable and configure social sharing settings that will be applied by default to all new and existing courses, access the platform, then reach the Admin menu from the gear icon in the top right corner. In the Settings section, select the Advanced settings subitem, then move to the Social & rating tab.
Enable one of the available options, according to your needs:
- Disable social sharing for courses: Enable this option to hide the Share button across all courses, preventing learners from sharing course links on social networks.
- Users can share a course in which they're enrolled on social networks at anytime: The Share button will be available for all courses learners are enrolled in, even before they start them.
- Users can share a course in which they're enrolled on social networks only if they've completed the course: The Share button will be available for all courses learners are enrolled in, but only after completion.
When you select either the second or third option:
- Use the If the course is completed, users can also share their scores checkbox to configure whether learners are allowed to share their scores in the course.
- Set whether learners will be able to share on LinkedIn, X, or both social networks.
Configuring social sharing at the course level
Independent of the social sharing settings you have configured as default for all courses in the platform’s advanced settings, you can set custom social sharing settings for individual courses directly from the course properties.
Remember that the configuration you make at the course level has priority over the default settings configured in the platform settings, and thus overrides them.
To configure social sharing at the course level, reach the Admin menu from the gear icon and select the Course management option from the E-learning section.
Find the course and click on its title. While in the Properties tab and click on Advanced settings, and then Rating and sharing and configuration settings by using the same instructions outlined in the Configuring social sharing for all courses chapter of this article.
Press Save changes when finished.
Tips and tricks
In addition to social sharing, you can enable direct sharing of the course enrollment link from the course page by activating the Enable enrollment links for this course option in the Enrollment options section of the course Properties tab. This functionality does not depend on the global or local activation of social sharing.
