Introduction
On the Go.Learn mobile app, you can enroll in and take courses, similarly to how you do on the desktop platform. The main difference is that:
- You cannot purchase courses or learning plans that are for sale directly from the mobile app. To do this, you need to access your desktop platform and make the purchase from there. Then you will be able to access the purchased content on the mobile app.
Like on the desktop platform, the types of items you can be enrolled in are:
- E-learning course: A standalone course that you can complete on the mobile app. Typically consists of a number of lessons–such as videos, slides, or tests–that you have to work through to complete the course.
- Instructor-led training (ILT): This is a course led by an instructor, that you attend either online or in person. A session is the period during which the course is held, and when you enroll you have to select one of the sessions scheduled for that course.
- Learning plan: A set of e-learning or ILT courses that are grouped together in a curriculum. You need to work through all the courses to complete the learning plan as a whole.
Finding courses and learning plans
The My courses and learning plans page shows you the courses and learning plans in which you are already enrolled.
→ These may include courses and plans in which you have been enrolled by an administrator, as well as ones in which you self-enrolled.
If you are instead looking for a new course or learning plan, you can browse the Course catalogs page or the All Channels page. The difference between the two is that catalogs include only courses (e-learning or ILT) and learning plans, whereas channels can also include other materials-–called “learning assets”---that users have shared on the platform, such as videos, images, PDFs, web links, and playlists.
Enrolling
Depending on how your platform is configured, you may have the option of enrolling yourself in certain courses or learning plans, and you can do so from the mobile app provided the price is Free.
Locate the course or learning plan that interests you and tap its card to open it. If self-enrollment is enabled for it, you will see the Enroll button at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the Enroll button to begin enrolling yourself:
- In the case of an instructor-led training (ILT), you will next be prompted to choose the session in which you want to enroll. Tap the date of your preferred session and then tap Enroll into this session.
- In some cases you may have to fill in some additional fields to complete the enrollment. Enter the required information and tap Enroll now.
Once you are enrolled, you will find the course or learning plan listed in the My courses and learning plans page.
Unenrolling or changing session
Depending on configuration, you may similarly have the option of unenrolling yourself from certain courses or learning plans.
- In the My courses and learning plans page, tap the card of the course or learning plan from which you want to unenroll.
- Then tap the three dot icon in the top right corner.
→ The available actions will appear at the bottom of the screen. - Tap the Unenroll button and, in the confirmation window, tap Yes, I want to proceed.
Note that the Unenroll action may not be available. Also, the three dot icon will not be visible if there are no actions available for the selected card.
In the case of an ILT, you can unenroll from a particular session without unenrolling from the course itself. And you can also switch to a different session of the same course.
In the My courses and learning plans page, open the card of the ILT course and select the Session tab. Then:
- To unenroll from your current session, tap Unenroll from this session. Then in the confirmation window tap Yes, unenroll.
- To switch to a different session, tap Change session and then select the new session you want to attend. On the details page of the new session that opens, tap Switch to this session.
Completing an e-learning course
In the My courses and learning plans page, tap the card of the course you want to work on. The Overview tab will show you a description of the course, and there may also be a comments or question&answer section underneath. The Content tab will show you a list of the lessons that make up the course, and how many you have completed so far.
- Tap Start learning now to start the course or resume it where you left off.
- You can directly tap a lesson in the list to access it out of order, for example if you want to review a previously completed lesson.
- When you are inside a lesson, you can use the Next and Previous buttons to move back and forth between lessons, without returning to the list. Or tap X to return to the list of lessons in the Content tab.
The lessons in a course can contain various types of content, such as slides, videos, documents, and tests.
→ A barred eye icon identifies any materials that are not playable on a mobile device, either due to their format or for other reasons (refer to the article on mobile app limitations). You will need to access your learning platform via desktop to complete these.
Completing a learning plan
A learning plan consists of a sequence of courses (e-learning or ILT). In the My courses and learning plans page, tap the card of the learning plan you want to work on. The Overview tab will show you a description of the plan, and the Content tab will show you a list of the courses that make up the plan, along with an indication of which ones you have completed so far.
- On each course in the list you will see an indication of its status (in progress, completed, etc), and whether it is mandatory or optional.
- For an e-learning course, tap the course in the list to begin working on it, and complete it as described in the chapter Completing an e-learning course.
- For an instructor-led training (ILT), complete it as described in the chapter Attending an instructor-led training (ILT)
- From inside any course, tap the back arrow ← in the top left corner to return to the list of courses in the plan.
The learning plan is complete when you have finished all the mandatory courses that compose it.
Attending an instructor-led training (ILT)
An instructor-led training consists of one or more scheduled events, which you attend either in-person, or online using a webinar tool. These events can all happen on a single day, or they may take place over the course of multiple days.
In the My courses and learning plans page, tap the card of the ILT course you want to attend:
The Session tab shows you the details of the session in which you are enrolled.
- One or more square blue buttons will show the dates over which this course session is taking place. If everything is happening on a single day you will see only one date.
- Tap a date button to see the list of events scheduled for that day.
- Then tap an event in the list to view its Event details. These will include the date and time, as well as the venue’s location for an in-person event, or a webinar link for an online event.
- In some cases you may see both options–physical location and webinar link–for an event, and you can choose which way you prefer to attend.
Note: If you are enrolled in more than one session, select it first to view the preceding information.
The Content tab shows you any training materials associated with the ILT course, for example pre-readings, surveys, slides, tests, etc. These may be made available before, during, or after the course.
Web events
To attend an online event, make sure first of all that you have installed the app (such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams) that is going to be used for the webinar (refer to the article Managing Webinar Tools for VILT Courses on Mobile). Then when the scheduled time is drawing near you can tap the Join the webinar button on the ILT course page, or the Join the webinar link on the Event details page.
Recordings:
Some web events have recordings that you are able to view after the webinar has ended, either to re-watch the content or catch up on something you missed.
- To access the recording of an online event, on the Event details page tab scroll down to the Web event section and tap on Watch webinar recording.
There is no limitation to the number of times you can watch a webinar recording.
In person events
To attend an in-person event, you will need to check the Event details page for information about the time and location. You can tap the Venue address to open it in your maps or navigation app. You can also tap on the classroom name to find more information about it, or tap the phone or email contact details provided to communicate with the organizer.
Evaluations
When an ILT course ends, you may be evaluated by the instructor. To view your evaluation, tap the ILT course card and select the Session tab. If you are enrolled in more than one session, also select the relevant session.
- Scroll down to the Personal performance evaluation section. Here you may see your score, a feedback and a file left by the instructor during the evaluation.
Remember that you’ll see the evaluation fields only if configured by your administrator and your instructor.
Certificates
Some courses and learning plans have an associated certificate, which is awarded to you when you complete the lessons and/or attend the events, and pass any tests or evaluations.
You will find the certificate in the Overview tab of the course page or learning plan page. Tap on the certificate to open it with your default PDF viewer. You can also save it in your mobile device, and share it by tapping on the corresponding button in the top right corner of the page.
