Introduction

Lessons, also referred to as training material, are any instructional content or resources used to support your learning path. They are designed to help you acquire new knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the course subject or topic.

Lessons are the sole instructional content of e-learning courses, which are marked as complete once you have finished all of the lessons composing them

Lessons can also be found in Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses, as a support to the onsite or webinar activities.

Navigating lessons

Lessons are listed in the Syllabus area of the course page. Every lesson is identified by a thumbnail, a title, and the file type. Some types of lessons, such as SCORM or xAPI, may include multiple entries.

If the course has a linear structure, you'll have to complete each lesson in the sequence outlined in the syllabus. If the course is more modular, you may be able to skip around and choose the lessons that interest you most.

If the course lessons must be completed in sequence, the lessons that you cannot access are marked with a lock label. The lock label can also mean that the lesson is no longer available because you have reached the maximum number of views, or because the content has expired. Click on the blocked lesson in the syllabus to get more details on the actions you are required to perform to unlock the selected lesson.

To start a lesson, click on its entry in the syllabus and follow the instructions provided by the player. 

If you have completed a lesson but this is not displayed as completed, a background retry mechanism will ensure the completion. This process could take a few minutes. If the problem persists, please contact your platform administrator.

Types of lessons

Lessons can include various formats, some of which identify file types, such as:

• Lectora

Other types of lessons have more common names:

• Videos
• Files
• Slides
• Tests
• Surveys
• Assignments
• Checklists
• HTML pages
• GDrive Files
• Learning evaluation questionnaires
• AI lessons

Refer to the linked articles to learn more about the different types of lessons and remember that not every course includes all types of lessons, that each lesson has a specific configuration, and that the names of the types of lessons may vary.

Visibility

If the lesson is relevant to the training only for a certain period, the instructor or the administrator may make it visible for that period exclusively. When the availability time is over, the lesson will no longer be listed in the course syllabus.

View mode

Depending on the lesson type, you may be able to play it in the player of the course page, it may open on top of the course page by hiding it whole or it may open in a new window of your browser.

As a general rule, the Syllabus area is always shown on the course page, but you can hide it by clicking on the Close course syllabus in the syllabus header. In addition, use the Expand view button to hide the platform header.

Number of views

Depending on the lesson settings, you may be able to view it an unlimited number of times, until you complete it, or once only. If a limitation on the number of views exists, it is described under the lesson, in the course syllabus.

If you can view the lesson once, once you have viewed it you won’t be able to go back to view it again, even if the lesson is a test and you failed it. In the syllabus, a message under the lesson description will inform you that you have reached the maximum number of views.

If you try to leave a lesson that you can view a limited amount of times, the platform will inform you that you will not be able to see it again.
