Introduction
Docebo Creator uses an AI credit system to manage the usage of selected advanced AI-powered features. This system allows you to pay only for what you use while keeping essential AI features available at no additional cost.
The AI credit system became effective on January 5, 2026, and AI credits are available for purchase as dedicated packages. Consumption and credit balance are visible in the Usage dashboard.
This article focuses on AI credit usage in the Usage dashboard. For a complete overview of all usage data available in the Usage dashboard, refer to the article The Usage dashboard.
AI features that use credits
The following Creator features consume AI credits:
The table below shows the number of credits consumed by each AI feature in Creator.
| Feature | Capability | Credit cost per use | When credits are consumed | Notes |
| Creator | AI virtual coaching (voice mode) - per role play | 55 | When a learner runs a role play | Credits are consumed only when the learner completes more than 30% of the role play, calculated based on the time to complete configured in the role play advanced settings. Previewing the role play does not consume credits. |
| Creator | AI virtual coaching (chat mode) - per role play | 10 | When a learner runs a role play | Credits are consumed when the learner starts the role play. Previewing the role play does not consume credits. |
| Creator | AI video presenter - per minute | 210 | When a video is generated | Credits are consumed at generation time, even if the video is deleted or if the Creator lesson is not published |
| Creator | AI-assisted Creator lesson generation - per lesson | 10 | When a lesson is generated | Credits are consumed when the draft is generated. If you choose to discard the draft and try again, credits will be consumed again. Manual or AI-assisted edits to the draft do not consume credits. |
Credit consumption for these features is tracked and displayed in the Usage dashboard.
AI features excluded from the AI credit system
Core AI features in Creator (such as AI-powered assessment generation and AI translations) and AI features outside Creator (such as Harmony search, Harmony copilot for support, or AI-based recommendations) are available at no additional cost.
AI video presenter
AI video presenter usage is displayed differently in the Usage dashboard depending on whether the generation uses included minutes or AI credits.
Every platform includes a fixed number of 30 minutes that can be generated at no cost. Until December 31, 2025, customers were also able to purchase additional minutes. Video generations that use included or previously purchased minutes do not consume AI credits.
Once the included or purchased minutes are used, additional usage is managed through AI credits, and their consumption is tracked in the Usage dashboard.
In the AI credits usage report, AI video presenter usage based on included or previously purchased minutes is displayed separately from usage based on AI credits.
Viewing AI credit consumption in the Usage dashboard
To access the Usage dashboard, log in as the Superadmin, then click Usage dashboard in the platform header and select the AI credits tab to monitor AI credit usage. This page includes the following sections.
Your plan
This section shows information about your AI credit entitlement for the current service period.
- Service period: the timeframe of your plan
- Credits plan: The number of AI credits included by default in your plan. If your plan does not include AI credits, this value is set to 0.
-
Credits bank plan: The credits bank represents a pre-purchased package of AI credits that you can consume over time. Unlike a monthly allowance, the credits bank works as a credit deposit: credits are deducted as AI features are used, regardless of the month in which the usage occurs.
This section is shown only if you have purchased an AI credits package.
Current usage period
This section shows how many credits have been used during the current usage period. Credits bank usage is cumulative and does not reset at the end of a usage period. The dashboard also shows how many credits were used in previous periods for reference.
- Credits: The number of AI credits included in the plan and used during the current period. If no credits are included in the plan, this value remains 0.
- Credits bank: The number of credits consumed from the credits bank. This value is calculated as the total number of credits purchased minus the credits already used.
- Exceeding credits: Any AI credit usage that exceeds the available credits bank. Exceeding credits are tracked and billed according to your agreement.
AI credit consumption values displayed in the Usage dashboard are not updated in real time. Usage data is recalculated multiple times per day, so there may be a delay between an AI feature being used and the corresponding consumption being reflected in the dashboard.
Viewing AI credit usage history
From the Usage dashboard, select Usage data history and scroll to the AI credits section to access the historical view of AI credit consumption. Use the Period selector to choose the timeframe to display.
By default, usage history is displayed in table view, showing one row per billing period. For each period, you can see:
- the billing period
- the number of credits used
- the number of credits consumed from the credits bank
- any exceeding credits
- the option to download the AI credits usage report.
Use the View dropdown to switch to chart view, which provides a visual representation of AI credit usage over time compared to your Credits plan. Click on the dots of the usage line to get detailed information about the billing period, the number of credits, credits in the bank (if you purchased a credits bank plan), and exceeding credits (if applicable).
AI credits usage report
The AI credits usage report provides event-level data. Values displayed in the AI credits tab of the Usage dashboard are aggregated from the events recorded in this report.
In the Usage data history section of the Usage dashboard, select Table view, then scroll to the AI credits section and press the Download icon to download the AI credits usage report in CSV format.
In the pop-up window, press Download anonymized CSV or insert your email address and press Request to receive it in clear. The anonymized CSV does not include personal user information such as username, first name, or last name.

Frequently asked questions
Will my platform stop working if I run out of credits?
No. Your platform will continue to work normally, and all AI features will remain available. If you use more credits than your allowances, the additional usage will be tracked and invoiced at a pre-agreed rate. The system will notify you via email when your credits are running low and you will have the opportunity to purchase more credits to cover usage as needed.
Why aren’t these AI features included in all plans?
The AI-powered features that will use credits rely on specific infrastructure that has real variable costs every time it runs. Including them in all plans would require higher fixed pricing for every customer, even for those who don’t use these capabilities. With the credit model, you can simply pay in proportion to how much you use these advanced AI features, rather than paying a higher flat rate regardless of usage.
Does the AI credit system affect other AI features in Docebo?
No. The AI credit system only applies to selected features within Docebo Creator. Other AI functionalities in the platform are not affected.
Can I restrict access to specific AI features in Creator?
No, at the moment it is not possible to restrict access to individual AI features in Creator. However, you can enable or disable AI features for Creator, or the creation of AI virtual coaching role plays, from the artificial intelligence control panel.
Note that disabling AI virtual coaching in the AI panel prevents the creation of new AI role plays, but does not affect learner access to role plays that have already been created. If you want to prevent learners from accessing existing role plays, you must remove them from the related Creator lessons or remove the lessons from the courses they are assigned to.
To limit access to Creator for Power Users, you can remove the Central repository / Create and Central repository / Edit permissions from the Power User profile.
Who can I contact if I have questions about AI credits or Creator access?
If you have any questions about your Creator access or AI credits, or if you need to purchase additional AI credits, contact your account manager or customer success manager.
