| Agents | Lesson modification | 1 credit per edit | When an Agent applies an edit to a Creator lesson | Manual edits made with standard tools do not consume credits. |
| Agents or AI Assistant | Intermediate action | 1 credit per action | When a credit-bearing intermediate action is performed | Examples include agentic search, transcript loading, or lesson edits. |
| Platform Search | Global search | Included | When the search is performed | Basic search-bar responses do not consume credits. |
| AI Video Presenter in Creator | Video generation | 48 credits per minute | When a video is generated | Consumption is calculated according to the current Video Presenter rate-card entry. |
The applicable operation-level rate card is the source of truth for current credit costs and newly added capabilities.
Credit factors
The total credit consumption for an operation is calculated using the operation's base credit cost and any applicable factors:
Total credits = base operation cost × Agent/AI Assistant factor × model factor + any additional billable actions
- Named Agents and AI Assistant use a 1x Agent/AI Assistant factor where specified in the applicable rate card.
- Custom Agent factors depend on context and are shown in the configurator.
- The platform default model uses a 1x model factor.
- Premium models such as Opus use an approximately 3x model factor.
- Learner-facing operations use the platform default model by default. Premium models are available to administrators and Power Users where supported.
Example of credit consumption
A lesson-building workflow using an Agent may consume credits as follows:
| Action | Credits consumed |
|---|---|
| Agent reviews uploaded external content | 1 |
| Agent accesses current LMS data | 1 |
| Agent generates the lesson output | 1 |
| Three rounds of Agent-driven edits | 3 |
| Total | 6 credits |
Actual consumption depends on the operations performed and any applicable Agent or model factors.
AI features excluded from the AI credit system
The following AI capabilities or features do not consume AI credits under the current model:
- Core AI capabilities in Creator, such as Text revision, Assessment generation, Image tagging, Text translation.
- Platform-level AI capabilities, such as Auto skill assignment, Auto tagging, and Content recommendation
- Global search
- MCP server
- Standard Docebo platform data, including courses, user records, and native content
- Manual Creator edits made using standard tools rather than an Agent
AI Assistant questions and Agentic Search are separate AI operations from Global Search and may consume credits according to the applicable rate card.
AI Video Presenter
AI Video Presenter usage is displayed differently in the Usage dashboard depending on whether the generation uses included minutes or AI credits.
Every platform includes a fixed number of 30 minutes that can be generated at no cost. Video generations that use included or previously purchased minutes do not consume AI credits.
Once the included or purchased minutes are used, additional usage is managed through AI credits, and consumption is tracked in the Usage dashboard.
In the AI credits usage report, AI Video Presenter usage based on included or previously purchased minutes is displayed separately from usage based on AI credits.
AI Roleplay
Roleplay does not consume AI credits under the current model. For information about AI Roleplay usage, refer to the dedicated AI Roleplay article.
Tracking and managing AI credit consumption
AI credit consumption can be managed and monitored in two complementary areas:
| If you want to... | Use... |
|---|---|
| Assign AI access, set allocations, configure limits, or manage alerts | AI Credits management |
| View overall credit volumes, current usage, usage history, or aggregate reports | Usage dashboard |
The AI Credits management manages access and consumption controls; it does not replace the Usage dashboard for overall usage reporting. The Usage dashboard shows consumption data; it is not where administrators configure AI access or limits.
AI Credits management
Access the AI Credits management from the Admin Portal. The Admin Portal is the administrative entry point; the AI Credits management is the dedicated workspace within it for managing AI access and credit consumption.
Managing access and allocations
Administrators can use the AI Credits management to:
- Assign AI access to individual users.
- Set a default credit allocation for each AI-enabled user.
- Set a credit limit for users sharing a pooled allocation based on their expected usage.
- Adjust AI access assignments and credit allocations as adoption changes.
- Set limits by user, group, or branch where supported.
Managing consumption limits and alerts
Administrators can use the AI Credits management to cap usage at a configured user, group, or branch limit. Credit consumption can be viewed by user in real time, where supported.
Automated alerts may be sent at 80%, 90%, and 100% of the applicable allocation. Availability of specific controls, including group and branch assignment, depends on the product rollout and your plan.
When a limit is reached
If an action would exceed the assigned limit, the user is prompted to contact an administrator and the action is blocked. The action remains visible and is not removed from the interface.
Automatic notifications
You will be automatically contacted by email or notified in the platform, where supported, in the following situations:
- When you have consumed 80% of the applicable AI credit allocation
- When you have consumed 90% of the applicable AI credit allocation
- When you have consumed 100% of the applicable AI credit allocation
Usage dashboard
The Usage dashboard is the reporting area for overall credit volumes and usage history. It continues to show overall credit volumes as normal.
To access the Usage dashboard, log in as the Superadmin, then click Usage dashboard in the platform header and select the AI credits tab to monitor AI credit usage. This page includes the following sections.
Your plan
This section shows information about your AI credit allocation for the current service period.
- Service period: The timeframe of your plan.
- Credits plan: The number of AI credits allocated for the current period.
- Credit Pool: The shared credit allocation available to the users covered by the pool, where applicable.
Current usage period
This section shows how many credits have been used during the current usage period. Credit Pool usage is cumulative according to the applicable plan terms. The dashboard also shows how many credits were used in previous periods for reference.
- Credits: The number of AI credits used during the current period.
- Credit Pool: The number of credits consumed from the shared pool. Usage data may be recalculated periodically, so there may be a delay between an AI feature being used and the corresponding consumption being reflected in the dashboard.
Viewing AI credit usage history
From the Usage dashboard, select Usage data history and scroll to the AI credits section to access the historical view of AI credit consumption. Use the Period selector to choose the timeframe to display.
