Introduction
Badges are awards that learners can earn by completing specific activities in the platform. You can associate points with badges, which can be converted into coins for use in the Rewards shop.
Organize badges into collections to control which badges are available to specific users, groups, or branches. Each collection has its own availability settings, and users can earn only the badges included in collections available to them.
The Default collection includes the badges available by default in your platform. You can create additional collections and assign badges to them.

Use case scenarios
You can use badges to recognize learner achievements and allow learners to share them externally.
For example, if a course awards a certificate or certification, you can:
- Create a badge representing the achievement.
- Configure the badge to be automatically awarded when learners complete the course.
- Enable social sharing for the badge.
Learners who earn the badge can then share it as described in the learner guide on sharing badges.
Badge collections allow you to make different badges available to different audiences. For example, you can configure:
- a Default collection available to everyone, containing badges for company-wide training
- a Europe Branch collection available to the European branch, containing badges for regional training and contribution activities
- a USA Branch collection available to the US branch, containing badges for regional training
Badge management page
After configuring Gamification, go to Configuration > Gamification > Badges.
The Badge management page includes two tabs:
- Badges: Lists all badges available in the platform.
- Collections of badges: Lists all badge collections.
Use the search field on either tab to find a specific badge or collection.
Note: When you create a community in Community hub, the platform creates a corresponding built-in badge collection named Community Collection - [community name]. You cannot rename or delete this collection from the Gamification area. If you rename the community from Community hub, the collection name is updated automatically.
Creating badges
To create a badge:
- Click the plus icon in the top-right corner of the Badge management page.
- Select New badge.
- Enter a name that clearly describes why learners earn the badge.
- In Badge eligibility, enter a description explaining how learners can earn the badge.
- In Badge achievement, enter the description displayed after learners earn the badge.
- Click Create and edit.
The badge configuration page opens.
General settings
From the General tab, configure the badge information, image, points, and visibility.
You can provide badge information in multiple languages. By default, the same content applies to all languages. To provide localized content, click Select fields language and select the language to edit.
Optionally, enter a Badge code.
Badge image
Click Select image, then select one of the available icons or upload a custom image.
For optimal resolution when sharing the badge, use an image of approximately 600 × 600 px.
Points
Set the number of points associated with the badge:
- 0: Learners earn the badge without gaining or losing points.
- Positive value: Learners earn the badge and the points are added to their score.
- Negative value: Learners earn the badge and the points are deducted from their score.
Point values must be whole numbers with a maximum of four digits.
User visibility
Choose how the badge is displayed to learners:
- Points and badge: Learners see the badge and receive its associated points.
- Points only: Learners receive the associated points, but the badge is not displayed in their Gamification area.
Community visibility
If Communities is active, configure whether community members can view the badge on other members' community profiles.
Sharing badges
From the Availability tab, configure whether learners can share the badge externally.
Enable social sharing to allow learners to share the badge using the available sharing options. You can also enable direct sharing to LinkedIn and Facebook.
Learners can copy the public badge link to share it by email or message.
Note: If you disable social sharing after a badge has already been shared, the existing social media post remains visible, but its badge link no longer works.
If a public catalog is active, badges shared on LinkedIn also display a login button.
Learners using the mobile app can share badges through compatible applications installed on their device. The shared link opens a public platform page displaying the achievement details and does not require authentication.
Publishing badges
New badges have the Unpublished status by default.
Change the status to Published to make the badge available for automatic assignment. You can publish a badge while editing it or from the Status column on the Badges tab.
Managing badges
The Badges tab displays the following information for each badge:
- thumbnail
- name
- code
- user visibility
- associated collections
- points
- publication status
Open the ellipsis menu in a badge row to edit, preview, delete, or associate the badge with collections.
To perform an action on multiple badges, select their checkboxes, click Choose action, and select the action.
Deleting badges
When you delete a badge associated with positive points, you can choose whether to keep or remove the points previously earned by learners.
If you keep the points, they remain in learners' profiles but are removed from leaderboards. As a result, the points displayed in learner profiles and leaderboards may differ.
If the Rewards shop is active, you can also choose whether to remove the coins associated with the badge. Coins are deducted only until the learner's balance reaches zero and never result in a negative balance
Power Users and badges
You can enable Power Users to manually assign or unassign badges to users by assigning them the Gamification / Manage badges assigned to users permission permission. Power Users
- can see the badges included in the collections available for the groups and branches they manage
- can manually assign or unassign badges to the users they manage
- cannot edit the badges’ details, availability, or automatic assignment rules.
