Introduction
Catalogs are collections of courses, learning plans, and certifications in which you can enroll either freely or with the approval of the administrator. Content may be available for free or may be available for purchase.
Depending on your platform configuration, you may also have access to a content marketplace catalog.
The Course catalog page
To access the course catalog page, open the User menu and select Course catalog. The page name may be different depending on your platform’s configuration.
Each catalog appears on its own row. To browse a catalog:
- Click the previous or next arrow on the row to scroll through up to 23 cards. Click View all to see the remaining content.
- Click the catalog title to see all of its content on one page.
If no catalogs are assigned to you, content cards may instead be displayed together on a single page.
Depending on the configuration, catalog content is available for purchase, for free or moderated self-enrollment, or by administrator enrollment only.
- Each course, learning plan, or certification card shows:
- The content title
- The content type: e-learning, Instructor-Led Training (ILT), learning plan, or certification
- The available languages (for e-learning and ILT courses)
- The price or enrollment information:
- Enrolled: you are enrolled in the content
- Subscribed: your subscription lets you self-enroll for free
- Free: you can access the content for free
- The price: if the content is available for purchase
Free content can be:
- Directly available for self-enrollment: Click the content card and click Enroll in the Enrollment options
- Locked: enrollment must be done by an administrator
- Moderated: the self-enrolment must be approved by an administrator before you can access the content.
All the content in which you have not yet enrolled displays a New label. Once you enroll, the New label is removed and the card displays your enrollment status: Not started, In progress, or Completed.
Filters
At the top of the page, click on Filters to filter courses, learning plans, and certifications according to the available options, and on Categories to look for the courses included in specific categories (if available). Use the search area to look for courses, learning plans, and certifications according to a keyword; the search is carried out on the course code, title, UID and description.
Internal and external catalogs
The catalogs shown on the Course catalog page are called Internal catalogs since you can see them only after you log in. Depending on the administrator settings, you may be able to browse catalogs also from the login page (before logging in). The catalogs available on the login page are called External Catalogs.
Remember that:
- Due to the content visibility settings, some courses, learning plans, and certifications in the external catalogs may not be visible in the internal catalogs and vice versa.
- When buying courses from an external catalog, you do not need to log in straight away but will have to do so in order to complete your purchase.
Navigating the Course catalog page
To know more about a piece of content, click on its card. If you are already enrolled in the content you will land on the course player page. If you are not enrolled, depending on the type of content, you’ll see different types of details:
- E-learning courses: the course description and details, the enrollment options if the course is free or the purchase options if it has a price and the list of the available lessons in the Course syllabus area. Depending on the course settings defined by the administrator, when clicking on the course card you might directly land on the course player. If so, you will still be able to access the course details page by clicking on View course details on the course card before you enroll.
- ILT courses: the course description and details, the enrollment options if the course is free or the purchase options if it has a price and the list of available sessions in the Course Sessions area.
- Learning plans: the learning plan description, the enrollment options if the learning plan is free or the purchase options if it has a price, and the list of courses composing the learning plan in the Courses in the Learning Plan area.
Remember that catalogs are dynamic, their content may be subject to changes, and some pieces of content might be available only for a limited period of time.
Enrollment options
If the content is free, depending on the content settings defined by the administrator, you may be able to self-enroll freely or your enrollment might require the approval of the administrator.
Free enrollment
Click on the course, earning plan, or certification card to access the content page. If the enrollment policy allows you to self-enroll freely, click on the Enroll button in the Enrollment options area.
For ILT courses, you can either enroll in the course and then select a session, or directly enroll in a session by clicking the Enroll button in the area of the session you wish to enroll in. Remember, you can enroll in one session per course.
Once you are enrolled, the content becomes available on the My course and learning plans page and you can start your training. Please note that the course, learning plan , or certification card will still be displayed on the Course catalog page.
Moderated enrollment
When the enrollment policy for a course is moderated, it means that you need the administrator to approve your enrollment. While you wait for the approval, you are placed on the course waiting list.
These courses are identified with the Moderated label on the course card. Once you click on the course card, an alert message in the Enrollment options area will remind you about the enrollment policy.
Click on the course card to access the content page and click on the Enroll button in the Enrollment options area. For ILT courses, you can either enroll in the course and then select a session, or directly enroll in a session by clicking the Enroll button in the area of the session you wish to enroll in. Remember, you can enroll in one session per course.
Once you are enrolled on the course waiting list, the course becomes available on the My courses and learning plans page, and the Waiting list label on the course card will inform you about your enrollment status. Please note that the content card will keep being displayed on the Course catalog page.
While you’re on the course waiting list, you can see the course page, but you will not be able to access its lessons and or sessions.
Notes on enrolling in learning plans and certifications
Please note that:
- When you enroll in a learning plan or a certification, you are automatically enrolled in all of the courses composing it and they will be listed on the My courses and learning plans page, unless you are allowed to purchase or enroll only in some of the courses composing it.
- Learning plans and certifications cannot have a moderated enrollment policy. If they include courses with this enrollment policy, it will not be enforced. This means that you will enroll in the learning plan or certification and subsequently in those courses without administrator approval.
- Learning plans and certifications do not have a waiting list, but they may include courses with waiting lists. If so, an alert message in the Enrollment options area will inform you about that.
Purchase options
If the content has a price, click on the course card to access the content page and click on the Add to cart button in the Purchase options area to proceed with the purchase.
For ILT courses, you can either purchase the course and then select a session from the pop-up window that will open, or directly purchase the session enrollment by clicking the Add to cart button in the area of the session you wish to enroll in. Remember, you can only purchase one session enrollment per course.
If the content you wish to purchase is a learning plan, depending on the administrator settings you may be able to buy only the whole learning plan or you might have the option to individually buy the courses composing it. If so, click on the Add to cart button next to the courses you wish to purchase.
When a course, a learning plan, or a certification is added to the shopping cart, a confirmation message is displayed.
Check out to the article of this guide on the management of the shopping cart to learn how to finalize your purchase.
Courses not available for enrollment or purchase
You may not be able to enroll or purchase a course because of one of the following reasons:
- The course has expired
- The enrollment period is over
- The course is fully booked
- Self-enrollment is currently not available
- Only administrators can enroll you in the course
- You have already purchased the maximum number of available seats
Enrolling in the waiting list
Depending on the course enrollment policy and on other settings, you may end up being enrolled in the course waiting list for one of the following reasons:
- The course enrollment policy is moderated
- The course has reached its maximum enrollment quota
- You enrolled in an ILT course, but in none of its sessions
- You enrolled in an ILT course, but the course has no sessions
- You enrolled in an ILT course, but all of its sessions are fully booked
You can be enrolled in the session waiting list if the session's maximum enrollment capacity has been reached, or because the administrator enrolled you in the waiting list.
If you are enrolled on the course waiting list, the Waiting list label on the course card on the My courses and learning plans page will inform you about your enrollment status. Please note that the Waiting List label is not displayed on the course card when you’re on the waiting list for Instructor-Led Training (ILT) sessions.
While you’re on the course waiting list, you can see the course page, but you will not be able to access its lessons and or sessions.
Filling out enrollment additional fields
Enrollment additional fields are additional pieces of information that you may be required to fill out when you enroll in a course to collect more detailed information that may be necessary for the training. The enrollment additional fields may vary depending on the context of the enrollment process and might be mandatory.
If you are required to fill in enrollment additional fields, when you click on Enroll, the platform will open the Additional fields pop-up window listing them. The mandatory fields are identified by (Required) and must be filled in to enroll in the course.
Provide the necessary information and click on Confirm to proceed with the enrollment process.
Accessing content marketplace catalogs
Depending on your platform configuration, you may have access to a catalog of courses from top providers that you can browse and freely enroll into. Open the User menu and click on Content marketplace catalogs (the page name may be different due to administrator settings).
You can browse content either by entering keywords in the search bar or using the list of filters to filter courses according to one of the available options:
- Topic: select the topics of your interest
- Duration
- Format: choose the content formats you prefer
- Rating: filter items according to user rating
- Publisher: select among Docebo Content’s training providers
- Features: filter by specific features of the courses. This filter uses “and” logic, so if you select more than one, the results will only display courses offering all the features you selected.
- Language: use this filter to view only the courses whose course text is available in the selected languages. You can mark one or more checkboxes or search for a specific language in the language filter search bar. This filter uses “and” logic, so if you select more than one language, the results will only display courses offering all the languages you selected.
- Accreditation organization: display only courses accredited by specific organizations.
Every course is identified by a card showing the course title, the last update date, its language (and possibly the number of additional languages available), its duration, and its type. Only e-learning-type courses are available in this catalog.
You will also see on the card if you are already enrolled in the course. A New label will identify the most recent added courses.
By default, courses are sorted by most relevant, but you can change the sorting to display the most recent, the highest rated by learners, the most recently updated, or sort them alphabetically.
Click on a course card to open its detail page. The detail page shows the course description, the learning objectives, and a summary of the languages supported by the course. You’ll see which languages are available for the course text, subtitles, and audio. Below the table, you may see suggested courses related to the one you're viewing. On the side of the page, the Course details panel summarizes key information such as the course duration and features.
If you enroll into a course by using the corresponding button, you will find the course in your My courses and learning plans page. If language selection is available, you will have the opportunity to change the language of the lesson after you’ve started the course.
