Introduction
Docebo is moving to an updated AI credits model for selected Docebo AI capabilities. AI credits are used when AI performs actions beyond basic search, such as generating content, retrieving information, or completing actions through an Agent or AI Assistant.
The updated AI credit consumption model becomes active on October 28, 2026.
This article explains what is changing from the previous AI credit system and what the change means for existing customers. It includes a high-level overview of the two AI credit options but does not cover detailed AI credit pricing or other commercial terms. For details about when individual AI operations consume credits, refer to the AI credit system overview.
What this means for existing customers
Some functionality that is currently available at no additional cost will require AI credits under the updated model. If you currently use affected functionality, you will receive a lifetime credit allotment specifically intended to cover that existing usage.
The allotment applies to functionality that was previously free; it is not a general allowance for every AI capability or for new functionality introduced after the transition. Your account team will follow up with details about any account-specific credit adjustments and how they apply to your account.
How AI credits are packaged
The updated model introduces two ways to allocate AI credits. Your account team will confirm which option applies to your account and provide the account-specific details.
| Option | How it works | What it means for customers |
|---|---|---|
| AI Credit Pool | A shared pool of AI credits is allocated across a defined group of AI-enabled users. | Consumption is managed across the group rather than assigned to each user individually. |
| Per-Seat option | Each AI-enabled user receives a predictable monthly allocation of approximately 20 AI credits, subject to fair-use controls. | Consumption is planned on a per-user basis, making usage more predictable for organizations with consistent individual usage. |
These options change how AI credits are allocated and managed. They do not change which AI operations consume credits.
How features are affected
The table below summarizes how the updated model affects the main AI capabilities.
| Capability | What changes | What this means for existing customers |
|---|---|---|
| Global search | No change. Global search remains included at no additional cost and does not consume AI credits. | No transition allotment is needed for this capability. |
| Platform-level AI capabilities | Capabilities such as Auto tagging and Auto skill assignment remain included at no additional cost and do not consume AI credits. | No transition allotment is needed for these capabilities. |
| AI assistant | Advanced assistant actions and AI-generated outputs use AI credits. | A lifetime allotment is provided to support your existing use of advanced functionality that was previously available at no additional cost. |
| Docebo Creator | Selected AI-powered Creator operations continue to use AI credits. The credit amounts required are simplified under the updated model. | Your account team will provide details about any account-specific transition treatment. |
| New AI capabilities | Selected new capabilities, including Agents, use AI credits according to the applicable credit model. | The transition allotment is for affected functionality you already used when it was previously available at no additional cost. New capabilities are not automatically covered. |
For the current list of credit-bearing operations and the rules for when consumption occurs, refer to the AI credit system overview.
Managing AI credits
The updated model provides two complementary ways to manage and understand AI credit consumption. Use each area for a different purpose:
- Use the AI Credits Management to manage AI access and consumption controls.
- Use the Usage dashboard to monitor overall credit volumes and usage history.
AI Credits management
The AI Credits management is the dedicated area for managing AI consumption within the Admin Portal. Depending on the capabilities available for your account, administrators can use it to manage AI access, allocations, consumption limits, alerts, and supported usage views by user, group, or branch.
The AI Credits management controls how AI access and consumption are managed. It is separate from the Usage dashboard and is not the primary location for overall credit-volume reporting.
Usage dashboard
The Usage dashboard continues to show overall AI credit volumes as normal. Use it to view current usage, usage history, and aggregate credit-consumption reports.
The Usage dashboard reports the overall consumption resulting from AI activity. It does not replace the AI Credits management for configuring AI access, allocations, limits, or alerts.
For detailed instructions, refer to The Usage dashboard and the AI credit system overview.
Frequently asked questions
What does the lifetime credit allotment cover?
It covers your existing use of functionality that was previously available at no additional cost and will require AI credits under the updated model. Your account team will confirm the allotment and any account-specific adjustments that apply to your account.
Are new AI capabilities covered by the transition allotment?
No. The allotment is intended to support affected functionality that you already used before the transition. New AI capabilities use AI credits according to the applicable credit model.
Will existing content or configurations be affected?
No. The transition changes how selected AI operations consume credits; it does not require you to recreate existing content or configurations.
Where can I find the detailed consumption rules?
The AI credit system overview explains which operations consume credits and when consumption occurs.
Where can I manage and report on AI credit usage?
Use the AI Credits management to manage AI access and consumption controls. Use the Usage dashboard to view overall credit volumes, current usage, history, and aggregate reports.
