Introduction
In your learning platform, you may be able to actively organize courses and assets into one or more playlists, that you can keep for yourself or share with others. You can also promote your playlists by inviting other people to watch them. Playlists allow you to gather different learning content in various formats into one centralized area of your platform to watch or reference later, as well as collect assets related to specific topics or jobs to be done.
Creating playlists
You can create personal playlists in the platform that contain informal learning assets (not formal training material from courses) and courses. You can create public or private playlists, depending on your preference.
To view your playlists, click on My channel in the main menu. Your playlists are listed on this page together with your contributions. Click on the filter icon and select the Playlist option in the Type filter area to see your playlists only.
In order to create a playlist, access an asset or course that you want to add to a playlist. On the asset’s page or the course player page, click on Add to playlist in the top right corner of the page. In the slideout panel, select the Create new playlist option, then fill out all of the required fields (title, description, playlist visibility, and channels).
Please note: The playlist visibility options may not be available, depending on how the administrator configured the platform. If this is the case, the playlist is visible to you only and you cannot publish it on any channels.
You can also add tags to your playlist, which will help increase the playlist’s searchability when users search for various assets using the platform’s global search. There is a limit of 50 tags per playlist and of 32 characters per tag. Press Create playlist when finished.
Managing playlists
Access My channel from the main menu, then click the title of the playlist in the playlist’s card. Click on the Part of playlist dropdown to see the playlist details, description, visibility and the list of included items. If there are assets or courses that you are not allowed to view due to administrator settings, the content will still be listed, but you cannot see its details.
Click on Invite to watch to invite other users to watch the playlist. In the right panel, search for the users or channels you wish to share the playlist with, and click on Invite. Please note that, depending on the platform settings, you may not be able to invite any user to watch your playlist.
If you are the playlist author, click on Edit to modify the playlist:
- To add content to the playlist, click on the plus button in the top right corner of the page. In the right panel, type at least 3 characters in the search bar to search for assets or courses to add. The results will be displayed below, if present. Click on an item to add it to the playlist. If you don’t see any items appear below the search bar, no results are present in the platform.
- To manage the playlist publication, use the publish/ unpublish toggle. If you publish a public playlist, it will be visible in the channels you enabled for its visibility. If you publish a private playlist, it will be visible to the users you invite to watch it.
- To delete specific elements from the playlist, click on the X icon in their row.
- To change the order of elements, click on the item in the list and drag and drop it within the list.
- To delete the whole playlist, click on the trash can button in the top right corner. As an option, you can also delete a playlist from the Part of playlist dropdown by clicking on Delete. If you delete a playlist or the items included in a playlist, they will not be deleted from the platform.
- To edit the playlist title, description, tags or visibility settings, click on the pen icon next to the corresponding fields.
You will also see a list of the assets and courses included in the playlist. If there’s an asset or course in the playlist that you’re not able to view due to Administrator settings, the item will still be listed, but you won’t be able to see any details about that asset or course.
Adding an asset to a playlist
To add an asset to your personal playlist, access the asset’s page. You cannot upload an asset from your computer or device directly into a playlist, but the asset must already be published on the platform. On the asset’s page, press the Add to playlist icon in the top right corner of the page. Please note that only the playlist owner can add assets to their playlist.
In the slideout panel, select whether you want to add the asset to an existing playlist, or create a new playlist (see the section above if you select this option). Press the Add to playlist button at the bottom of the panel. The asset has now been added to your playlist.
Please note: Questions, answers, and ratings do not apply to playlists.
Adding courses to a playlist
To add a course to your personal playlist, access the course player page. On this page, press the Add to playlist button in the top right corner. In the slideout panel, select whether you want to add the course to an existing playlist, or create a new playlist (see the section above if you select this option). Press the Add to playlist button at the bottom of the panel. The course has now been added to your playlist.
Additionally, while on the My courses and learning plans page or in any personal or public channel, click on the ellipsis menu in the course’s card, then select the Add to playlist option and follow the steps outlined in the previous paragraph.
Please note that courses added to personal playlists still have certain visibility settings. Remember, even if other learners can view your playlist, they will not be able to access the course from your playlist if they are not enrolled in that course.
Playing a playlist
To play a playlist, access it from My channel or from any channel it is shared with, and click on the playlist card. If the playlist includes courses, navigate them depending on the course type:
Navigate assets depending on their type: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, MPG, MP4, AVI, MOV, WEBM, 3GP, WMV, ZIP, RAR, TAR, 7z, DOC, DOCX, RTF, ODT, TXT, XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, PPT, PPTX, ODP, PDF, MP3, FLAC, OGG, WAV.
Click on Part of playlist dropdown to see the list of the items composing it, together with its description and visibility.
