Introduction
The Reports menu of the platform allows you, as a Superadmin or Power User, to quickly create, configure, schedule, preview, and export custom reports to view and analyze specific information about courses, users, training material, or activated apps.
You can currently find two reporting areas on your platform: Reports and Legacy reports.
As of July, 22 2026, these two areas will be merged into one single menu entry named Reports. The Reports menu will include the following three tabs:
- Quick summary reports and dashboards: From this tab, you can generate pre-built reports.
- Custom reports builder: From this tab, you can create custom reports to view and analyze specific information about courses, users, training material or activated platform applications. Learn more about creating and managing custom reports.
- Legacy reports: This tab is moved from the Legacy reports area to the Reports area. You can view, export, edit, schedule, and delete existing legacy reports. However, you will no longer be able to create a new legacy-format report.
We strongly recommend that you stop using the legacy reports and switch to the Reports area as of now.
This article helps ensure a smooth transition between the two menus by explaining how to migrate your reports from the Legacy reports menu to the Reports menu.
Please note! If you have signed your contract after December 3, 2025, you can disregard this information. The Legacy reports area and tab will not be displayed on your platform.
Migrating your reports from the Legacy report menu to the Reports menu
On the Reports page, click the Reports migration circular arrow in the top right corner. Once you have migrated your reports to the Reports menu, you will be able to view and edit them using all the custom reports features. The following report configurations will be migrated:
- Properties
- Visibility
- Filters
- Report fields
Notes on report migration:
- The configured schedules will not be migrated. You need to schedule the report again.
- Only the reports created after January 1, 2019 can be migrated.
- Reports containing errors in their configuration will not be migrated.
Warning: If you run the migration again after the initial migration, you can choose to:
- Migrate only reports that have not been migrated
- Migrate all reports, including those already migrated
Migrating a report again overwrites any changes made to that report in the Reports menu. The report will be reset to its original configuration of the legacy report. Changes made to migrated reports in the Reports menu are not reflected in the Legacy reports menu.
The reports migration operation only takes a few minutes. When it is complete, a pop up window will appear, informing you about the number of custom reports that have been migrated successfully and, if any, about the reports which could not be migrated. In the latter case, you can download the error log to see what went wrong.
Please note: You can use APIs to download data, both for the Legacy reports and the Reports menus. For more information, please refer to the API section in the Docebo knowledge base.
