While building your questionnaire, you will have the possibility to choose among different types of questions. The type of question refers to the way a question is displayed and how the user can provide an answer.
Using the right type of question is important to help you gather the valuable and useful information that you need. This article is an overview of the available question types.
Please note! The question type is different from the question category. Learn more about question categories in the corresponding article.
Question types
Linear scale
Respondents must choose a value between the minimum and the maximum values. You can define the labels of these minimum and maximum values. The scale used for this type of question goes from 0 to 10. This 11-point scale cannot be changed and allows you to align Likert scales to NPS question scales.
Text answer
Respondents must enter their answer in a text field. These questions must contain at least one answer field.
Multiple choice
Respondents must choose one of the available answers. These questions must contain at least two answer fields.
Checkboxes
Respondents must select one or several answers among the proposed answers.
Question type options
You can make the question mandatory. The respondent will then have to answer the question before moving forward and submitting the questionnaire.
Please note! If a mandatory question is not available in the user’s selected language, then it will be displayed in the original language it was created and will automatically become optional. Learn more about creating questions in multiple languages.
