Introduction
This article provides information about the Go.Learn mobile app and the branded mobile app in China.
App stores in China
For Android apps: The Google Play Store is banned in China, but in the country there are more than 400 alternative app stores. All smartphone manufacturers have created their own store, and there is also a multitude of independent app stores. The landscape is extremely fragmented.
For iOS apps: The Apple App Store is accessible in China, so you don’t need to use an alternative app store for iOS.
Go.Learn app in China
This chapter covers the Go.Learn mobile app in China. For information about the branded mobile app see the next chapter.

iOS: If you’re using an iOS device, you can download the Go.Learn app from the Apple App Store.
→ The app name on the Apple App Store is Go.Learn, the same as it is outside of China.
Android: If you are using an Android device for the Chinese market, the Go.Learn app is not available.
Please note: Prior to 31 July 2024, a version of the app called GoLearn (without the dot) was available on some of the Android app stores in China. However this app has been discontinued and is no longer supported.

For the iOS Go.Learn app:

- Push notifications are not supported.
Branded mobile app in China
For both iOS and Android branded apps, when configuring them in Branded mobile app publisher you must select the setting Enable optimization for app usage in China.
iOS branded app
Since the Apple App Store is present also in China, you can publish your branded iOS app in the normal way.
Android branded app
Since the Google Play Store is not present in China, you will have to either:
- Try to publish your Android branded app in one of the alternative Chinese app stores.
- Distribute your Android branded app outside of the stores, for example using a Mobile Device Management system (MDM), or through an Android APK package that users can install by themselves.
Please note:
The branded apps you create with the Branded mobile app publisher are built with standard packages, without all the customization and requirements needed to publish the app in Chinese app stores.
The bureaucratic path to publishing an app on a Chinese app store is long and complicated. Many steps are required and a multitude of documents need to be prepared. Docebo doesn’t support you with this activity. To get assistance, you can contact consulting companies specialized in this field.
