Introduction
Themes allow you to define a consistent visual identity for your Creator lessons by setting colors, font, and logo in one reusable configuration. Both Superadmins and Power Users can create personal themes for their own use. Only Superadmins can create organization themes and share them with all authors in your organization.
This article explains how to create, apply, edit, and manage themes in the Creator editor. For general instructions on editing Creator lessons, refer to the article Editing lessons with the Creator tool.
Applying a theme
To apply a theme to your lesson, click Themes in the editor header. A panel opens where you can create a new theme. If you already have saved themes, the panel also shows them organized into two sections:
- My themes: themes you have created that are visible only to you
- Organization themes: themes created by a Superadmin and shared with all authors in your organization
Click on a tile to apply that theme to the whole lesson, except for screens where you have already customized the background color — these keep their own background. Note that themes do not affect the appearance of games, AI roleplay scenarios, or video elements.
You can also override the background color of a single screen independently of the applied theme. For details, refer to the article Editing lessons with the Creator tool. If you want to revert an overridden screen back to the theme's background, open the Themes panel, select the desired theme's tile, then press Apply to all screens.
Creating a theme
To create a new theme, open the Themes panel and click the Create theme tile. An editor opens with a live preview on the left and theme settings on the right.
When you open the theme editor, colors are automatically pre-filled with your platform's current branding. Configure the following settings:
- Theme name: Enter a name for your theme.
- Logo: Upload a logo by dragging and dropping a file or clicking Browse your files. For details on supported file types and size limits, refer to the article Docebo system requirements. Once uploaded, use the position selector to place the logo. Click the ellipsis button on the logo to select Replace file or Remove.

Colors: Set the color palette for your theme by clicking on the corresponding swatch to open the color picker. Click Reset to restore the colors to your platform's current branding. You can configure:
- Accent: The color for links and interactive elements
- Screen background: The background color of the screen
- Screen text: The color of body and heading text
- Card background: The background color of activity cards
- Card text: The text color inside activity cards
- Font: Select a font from the dropdown. The selected font applies to all text in the lesson.
- Save as organization theme: Available to Superadmins only. Select this checkbox to make the theme available to all authors in your organization. When this option is not selected, the theme is visible only to you. Note that once you save a theme as an organization theme, you cannot move it later to My themes.
The live preview updates in real time as you make changes. When you are done, click Save theme. When you save a newly created theme, it is automatically applied to all screens of the current lesson, including screens you add afterward.
Please note! After applying or customizing a theme, preview the lesson to verify that the color contrast is accessible for all learners.
Editing a custom theme
To edit a theme you have created, open the Themes panel, click the ellipsis button on the custom theme tile, and select Edit. The theme editor opens with the current settings pre-filled. Only Superadmins can edit organization themes.
The editor displays the same settings described in the chapter Creating a theme. Make your changes and click Update theme to save them. The update applies to the current lesson only. Other lessons using the same theme are not updated automatically.
Please note! You cannot edit the theme from a translation. Theme changes must be made in the default language version of the lesson and are reflected in all translations automatically.
Customizing a built-in theme
Built-in themes cannot be edited directly. To create a custom theme based on a built-in one, open the Themes panel, click the ellipsis button on the built-in theme tile, and select Customize. The editor opens with the built-in theme settings pre-filled.
Adjust the settings as described in the chapter Creating a theme and click Save theme. A new custom theme is created based on your changes, and the original built-in theme remains unchanged.
Deleting a custom theme
To delete a custom theme, open the Themes panel, click the ellipsis button on the theme tile, and select Delete. Only Superadmins can delete organization themes. The theme is removed from the gallery and can no longer be applied to new lessons. Lessons where the theme was previously applied are not affected and retain their current appearance. Built-in themes cannot be deleted.
