Introduction
OpenSesame is an online content provider, reselling courses provided by third-party companies. Most content is suited for vertical solution and compliance purposes. By purchasing and syncing OpenSesame courses into your platform via Docebo’s Content Marketplace, you can import SCORM training material that can be pushed to your courses from your Central Repository.
We suggest that you apply for an OpenSesame Plus account to make the most of OpenSesame’s offerings and the integration between Docebo and OpenSesame. This article explains how to navigate OpenSesame within the context of Docebo and how to manage content from OpenSesame in your platform.
Accessing and Activating OpenSesame in Docebo
To access the OpenSesame in your platform, you need to reach the Content Marketplace. Log into your Docebo platform as the Superadmin. Please note that only Superadmins have access to the Content Marketplace. Power Users have no permissions involving the Content Marketplace. Once logged in, access the Admin Menu by scrolling your mouse over the gear icon. Then select the Courses Marketplace item.
On the main marketplace page, you will see all of the vendors from which you can browse, purchase, and sync off-the-shelf content. If you haven’t activated your subscription with OpenSesame yet, click on the OpenSesame card. Once on the OpenSesame page, click on Activate OpenSesame and confirm the activation by clicking Activate in the pop-up box.
User and platform information will now be provisioned, and an OpenSesame account will be created for your platform. Please Note: You should not use an email address that is already active in OpenSesame. If you already have an OpenSesame account, please contact OpenSesame regarding how to use your account in your Docebo platform.
Syncing Content from OpenSesame to Docebo
To select content in OpenSesame, use the Courses tab at the top of the Iframe, or select an industry from the dropdown menu using the Industries tab. You can also search for a specific course using the search button on the far right side of the action bar at the top of the Iframe.
Once you’ve found a course that interests you, simply press the course item to redirect to the course’s page, where you will find all of the details for the course. Details may include the price, if the course is available for mobile devices, features, difficulty, supported browsers, languages, if the content is included in OpenSesame Plus, any course ratings that may be available, and any required plugins. Once you find a course that you want to push to your platform, press the Add to Cart button at the top of the course’s main page.
The course has now been added to your shopping cart. From here, you can continue shopping for courses, or you can reach your shopping cart by pressing the corresponding icon in the action bar at the top of the iframe. Next to the shopping cart icon, you will see a number indicating how many courses are inside of your cart.
As an option, you can import courses massively from OpenSesame to Docebo. Press the download icon in the top right corner of the page. As for the single import, select all of the courses you want to import. This import option does not allow you to enroll users in the courses at this stage, since courses may have different types of audiences. The massive import will be managed by a background job, the import time depends on the number of courses to import.
Once you’ve successfully purchased the course, it will be found in the platform Sync tab in the My Account section. Press the My Account item in the action bar at the top of the frame to reach this area. Then, press the Sync button to sync your OpenSesame purchases with your platform. While the sync is in progress, you can continue browsing or access the Central Repository in your platform.
Now, you can return to the My Account section in OpenSesame to view the status of the course. In the My Account area, select the Sync History tab to view the package’s progress. Once the sync is complete, the course will be placed in your Central Repository in your platform.
Note: courses will only be imported in the Central Repository if the LMS Package Type selected in your OpenSesame profile is set to SCORM. This package type is selected by default, but you can change it by clicking on your account name in the action bar at the top of the page, selecting Edit Profile from the dropdown menu, then selecting an option from the LMS Package Type dropdown menu. If you select a package other than SCORM, courses will not be imported.
Managing OpenSesame Content in Docebo
OpenSesame courses are synced into your platform as SCORM training material directly in your Central Repository. This training material can be managed just like regular SCORM training material, and have the same advanced settings options.
In the list of courses on the Course Management page, you will see a shopping cart icon in the Marketplace column of a course’s row if the course contains content from a content vendor. Once you’re on the course’s Training Materials page, you will see the Central Repository icon and the shopping cart icon in the training material’s row if it is synced from a content vendor. If you hover your mouse over the shopping cart icon, the name of the vendor from which you purchased the content will appear just above the icon.
When editing the title of the content you imported from OpenSesame, remember that the new title will be assigned to the training material within the course, if you want to edit the course name, you can do so from the Course Management area. The new title will be used in the platform instead of the original content title for all purposes, including the search functionality, thus causing a mismatch between the course title in the platform and the one displayed in the OpenSesame catalog.
Please Note: If you delete an OpenSesame training material from the Central Repository, you can sync it back into your platform by accessing the LMS Sync tab in the My Account area of OpenSesame. Alternatively, if you sync the same content twice without deleting the object from the Central Repository first, the object will appear twice in the Central Repository, which will affect the tracking data.
OpenSesame courses use a seat-based module, meaning that they limit the number of seats available per course. This means that only a certain number of your users can view the training material in their Docebo platforms. OpenSesame reads every Docebo user that accesses the training material. You can monitor this number by accessing the Activity Report tab in the My Account area of OpenSesame. Here, you will find a list of the users that have accessed the course.
If the number of seats has reached maximum capacity for an OpenSesame course that is embedded as training material in one of your Docebo courses, your Docebo users will receive an error informing them that the number of seats is exceeded. Your users should contact OpenSesame’s help system to proceed. Please refer to the section below for more information.
