Introduction
This article lists the terms commonly used in Docebo Learn to help you gain a better understanding of the concepts underlying the functionalities of your platform.
List of Terms
Additional Field | Sets of details that the Superadmin can create in order to complete a user profile or to add extra details for courses and sessions, enrollments, and external training activities. |
API |
Application Programming Interface. APIs are sets of rules and functions that different software use to communicate with each other. More on Docebo Learn’s APIs. |
Asset |
Informal content uploaded in Docebo Learn when the Discover, Coach & Share module is enabled. Assets can be documents, photos, presentations, links to other web resources, etc. |
Audit Trail |
An immutable record that keeps track of administrative actions performed on the system, such as important changes to course completion and enrollment status changes.More on the Audit Trail. |
Automation |
When the platform performs actions that are self-induced or self-regulated so that Superadmins do not have to perform them manually. More the Automation App. |
Background Job |
Massive actions (such as mass enrollments) are managed in the background so that you don't have to stay on the action page while the job is being completed. More on background jobs. |
Badge |
A virtual medal on the platform for users to gain every time they do a particular rewarding action, such as completing a course or passing a test. Badges are part of the mechanisms of Gamification. |
Branch |
Folders or subfolders allowing the Superadmin to organize users per office, agency, division, country, or simply per company.More on branches. |
Catalog |
Feature allowing the creation of customized sets of courses and learning plans that your users can either enroll in for free or purchase. More on catalogs. |
Category |
Groups in which courses can be divided. As a Superadmin, you may need to categorize courses based on content, course type, etc.More on categories. |
Central Repository |
A collection of stored training materials, a warehouse where you can find all formal training resources from all of the available sources. Learn more on the Central Repository. |
Certificate |
By associating a certificate to a course, you can award it to the users that have completed that course. Certificate layouts can be managed by customizing templates. More on certificates. |
Certification |
Users can receive certifications by completing designated courses, learning plans, or approved external activities. More on certifications. |
Channel |
Streams of topics that include all of the assets uploaded by experts and users. Mainly used with Discover, Coach and Share, but also available without this module. More on channels. |
Coin |
Points are converted into virtual currency that can be used to “buy” rewards in the Rewards Marketplace. All points earned on the platform are converted to coins on a one-to-one basis. |
Content Marketplace |
The Content Marketplace is a place within the platform that houses formal content coming from different Content Providers. |
Content Service Provider (CSP) |
A content provider, offering various types of learning assets and courses in many different areas. Superadmins and learners can view and browse the catalogs of the content and sync their content of choice into the platform. |
Course | Courses are the steps of a learning program that users must complete. Courses can be completely delivered online and learners can follow them at their pace (e-learning courses) or can be held in a classroom or via webinar (Instructor-Led Training courses) |
Course Player |
Area of the interface within a course dedicated to playing training material. |
E-Learning Course |
Courses are completely delivered online, do not involve instructors and do not require learners to attend them at the same time. |
Expert |
User assigned to manage a specific channel in Discover, Coach & Share.They can review the content uploaded by other users and through the peer-review process, publish or reject the content. Experts can also manage specific questions and answers related to the channels that they manage. More on experts. |
External Training |
Training activities that users completed outside of Docebo Learn. The information for these activities (including certificates) can be imported into Docebo when the External Training app is active. |
Gamification |
Application using game mechanics in non-game activities in order to better involve users. Gamification is used in software to make the learning experience more fun and effective. Docebo offers a Gamification app. |
Global Search |
The search bar at the top of the platform’s interface, where users can search for assets, training material, courses, and learning plans within the platform. More on the global search. |
Group |
Sets of users with characteristics different than those determining the branches of the organization chart.More on groups. |
Help Center |
The Help Center is the area within the platform housing communication between Docebo teams and Superadmins. |
ILT (Instructor-Led Training) Course |
ILT (Instructor-Led Training) courses are carried out either on-site or online. VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) is used when referring to online courses/sessions/events). |
Instructor |
User able to manage some course settings within Docebo Learn. Learn more about instructors. |
Integration |
Act of linking different software applications to act as one system. Learn more about the available integrations in Docebo Learn. |
Leaderboard |
The leaderboards of Docebo Learn display the most active users collecting the highest amount of points or badges. |
Learning Management System (LMS) |
A software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, automation, and delivery of educational courses, training programs, materials or learning and development programs [source: Wikipedia]. Docebo Learn is a scalable cloud-based LMS providing training programs. |
Learning Plan |
A list of courses that the user must follow and complete. Learning plans are created by Superadmins and can be assigned to individual users, groups, or branches. |
License |
Each license offers the possibility to enroll in the courses included in the corresponding subscription. |
Localization |
Adapt software by translating its text or offering specific components for the Country of use. The Localization Tool allows Superadmins to translate and modify all the texts of the platform in the available languages. |
Manager |
Managers can monitor the activity of their team members directly in Docebo Learn by managing parts of their learning experience or contacting them to investigate certain situations. |
Pages & Menus |
Superadmins can create and customize the platform pages and compose menus using the available pages by assigning different visibility rules. Pages can either be dashboards composed of widgets or they can display data coming from outside the platform. More details. |
Playlist |
Personal collection of formal and informal content. Playlists can be related to channels and can either be public or private. Users can invite other users on the platform to watch their playlists. |
Points |
Just like points in a game, points in Docebo are the accumulation of the score that users achieve when completing an action. A certain number of points can be earned when a user earns a badge (if points are associated with that badge). Points are part of the mechanisms of the Gamification app. |
Power User |
Users who can perform specific management operations, and manage specific user groups or certain courses in Docebo Learn. Learn more about Power Users. |
Report |
Reports in Docebo Learn provide comprehensive and complete information regarding activities related to courses, users, channels, assets, etc. Reports can be customized and are automatically updated. |
Reward Marketplace |
A shop within Docebo Learn offering rewards in exchange for coins.More on the Rewards Marketplace. |
Seat |
Each seat is a single enrollment for a single course, including courses within a bundle. Seats are distributed individually on a user-to-course basis. |
Self-Enrollment |
The possibility to enroll in a course on one’s own from a catalog. More on self-enrollments. |
Self-Unenrollment |
The ability to undo the enrollment on one’s own. |
Skill |
Individual abilities that employees have within a company or that can be learned with training. More on skills. |
Skill Set |
Group of skills. |
SSO (Single Sign On) |
Docebo integrates with different applications to allow users to sign into Docebo using a sign-on from other applications (such as Google, Facebook, etc). Single Sign-On in Docebo Learn. |
Subscription Bundle |
A group of catalogs (composed of courses and learning plans) that Superadmins group together so users can subscribe to them in one action. You then assign the bundle-specific attributes in order for it to be sold via subscription plans. |
Subscription Plan |
Plans are how to sell bundles to end-users. A bundle can have multiple plans, usually based on a validity period. |
Superadmin |
The most powerful user in Docebo Learn. Also referred to as Administrator in the learner’s documentation. There can be multiple Superadmins in the Docebo Learn. |
Survey |
Type of training material used in Docebo Learn. More on surveys. |
Tracking |
Used to indicate the learner’s progress in courses. |
Training Material |
Content composing the course, can be a file, video, test, assignment, HTML page, or specific package of materials. Learn more. |
User |
Anyone registered on the platform. The average user in Docebo Learn is a learner. |
User Interface |
The platform’s display screen, including menus, messages, icons, buttons, etc. This is how a user interacts with the platform. |
VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) |
ILT (Instructor-Led Training) courses are carried out through a Videoconference Tool. |
White Label |
App used to hide the Docebo branding on the platform, and replace it with your own custom branding (logos, colors, favicons, etc). More on White Label. |
Widget |
Page component allows users to perform a specific action, view specific information, or access certain areas of the platform. |
