Introduction
Connect a Notion workspace so pages and database content become searchable knowledge in Docebo.
This connector syncs pages and database rows from one Notion workspace into Docebo Knowledge. It covers page and database content only, not files or attachments.
How permissions work for Notion: Notion doesn't share page-level permissions, so permissions aren't synced the way they are for other connectors. Instead, each colleague connects their own Notion account and only sees the pages they can open in Notion. Until a user has connected their account, Notion results aren't shown to them.
1. Basic information
What content gets synced
| Content type | Status |
|---|---|
| Pages shared via the connection | Synced |
| Database rows | Synced |
| Pages not shared with the connection | Not synced |
| Files and attachments | Not synced |
| Trashed pages | Not synced |
What content gets extracted
| Content | Status |
|---|---|
| Page content and metadata | Extracted |
| Database row content and metadata | Extracted |
| Files and attachment contents | Not extracted |
| Comments | Not extracted |
A Notion connection reads one workspace: the one you pick when you authorize. If you authorize again with a different workspace, it replaces the current selection, and the content of the previous workspace is removed from the index at the next sync.
2. Prerequisites in the source system
Required role
You need to be a Notion workspace owner to create the connection and authorize it.
Required settings
You need access to the Notion developer portal, where the OAuth connection for Docebo is created. The connection must be created with access for Any workspace. This setting can't be changed later.
3. Preparation in the source system
Create the connection
In the Notion developer portal, create a new connection. Choose OAuth as the authentication method, and set Can be installed in to Any workspace. This can't be changed later.
Paste the callback URL as the Redirect URI. It always follows this pattern: https://[YOUR-DOCEBO-PLATFORM-URL]/knowledge/v1/integrations/connections/callback, for example https://demo.docebosaas.com/knowledge/v1/integrations/connections/callback.
Add capabilities
In the connection settings, enable the Read content and Read user information including email addresses capabilities. Without the email capability, nobody will be able to see the synced content.
4. Required actions in Docebo
| Information to enter | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Client ID | Notion developer portal → your connection → Configuration |
| Client secret | Notion developer portal → your connection → Configuration |
Authorizing the connector
- Go to Add-ons and integrations → Knowledge Connectors → Create → Notion. This menu is only visible to Superadmins.
- On the Overview tab, review what will and won't be synced, then select Get started.
- On the Authorize tab, enter the Client ID and Client secret from your Notion connection (Configuration), then select Authenticate.
- In the Notion pop-up, select the workspace and the pages you want to share with the connection, then allow access. Notion reads one workspace only, so choose carefully. Authorizing again with a different workspace replaces this one.
- On the Scope tab, select which content you want available to add to Knowledge collections later, then save your selection.
