Introduction
Insights extends the Docebo MCP server from learner-focused workflows into administrator analytics workflows, allowing Superadmins to ask natural-language questions about learning data from supported AI assistants instead of relying only on static dashboards or specialist support. Learn more about the Docebo MCP server.
What is new
The new Insights capability adds natural-language analytics tools to the Docebo MCP server for Superadmins.
The initial analytics scope covers four core areas:
- Users
- Time spent on learning
- Enrollments
- Learning plans
Superadmins can ask questions in natural language and receive answers formatted as text, bulleted lists, or tables, depending on the question and the response shape.
How Insights leverages the new MCP enhancements
Benefits brought by the MCP server to Insights:
Delivered as part of the new enhanced admin tool in MCP: Analytics are integrated directly into the admin workflow, allowing Superadmins to analyze learning data while managing enrollments and courses from the same environment.
Designed for the same AI assistants that Superadmins already use: The Docebo MCP server supports integration with enterprise AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini, and the Insights feature is intended to be consumed from those environments through natural language.
Intended to support cross-system reasoning: Superadmins can use these analytics answers within supported AI assistants and relate Docebo learning data to broader business context during their workflow.
What problems Insights solves
Superadmins previously had to navigate static dashboards or rely on specialized teams to retrieve learning data.
Insights addresses that gap by making core learning metrics conversational and easier to retrieve when needed.Superadmins move faster to:
- review learning activity trends
- review enrollment patterns
- understand learning plans usage
- analyze time spent on learning
Who can use it
Insights is available to Superadmins only.
Like all the Docebo MCP server tools, Insights operates within the permissions of the authenticated user and does not grant any access beyond those permissions.
Use cases
Use Insights to answer operational and reporting questions such as:
- Which learning plans have the highest engagement this month?
- How much time are learners spending on training across specific programs?
- Which groups have the highest enrollment activity?
- Which course categories have the highest number of enrollments?
Example prompts
You can ask your AI assistant prompts such as these:
- Show me enrollment trends across our learning plans.
- Which users have the highest learning activity this quarter?
- How much time are learners spending on compliance training?
- What are the top 5 course categories by enrollment?
Requirements and limitations
To use Insights, a Superadmin must enable and configure the Docebo MCP server. Read the configuration guide.
The MCP server uses the authenticated user's platform permissions. Queries that exceed those permissions return an error.
The current Insights scope covers:
- Users
- Time spent on learning
- Enrollments
- Learning plans.
What data Insights can answer questions about
Insights answers questions about the following data. This section is intended for reference only. Using Insights does not require knowledge of the data structure.
Users
All users regardless of their account level and platform role together with:
- User role
- Account status
- Groups and branches the user belongs to
- User’s manager
- User activity dates such as last log in, last access to a course
Example questions:
- Which users have logged in recently?
- Which users have not logged in recently?
- How many active users belong to a branch or group?
- What is the learning activity by manager or team?
Courses and learning plans
Users’ catalog of courses and learning plans together with:
- Course type: e-learning, Instructor-Led Training (ILT), or learning plans
- Price
- Language
- Duration
Example questions:
- Which categories contain the most courses?
- Which courses are included in a learning plan
- Are the courses mandatory or optional?
- Which courses or learning programs were recently created or updated?
Enrollments
Includes enrollment status, scores, and enrollment dates.
Example questions:
- Which learning plans or courses have the highest completion rates
- Which learners are approaching an enrollment deadline
- What are the enrollment and completion trends over a given period
Time spent on learning
How long learners are actively engaged in training, tracked by course. This can be combined with enrollment status and scores to compare, for example, time spent before versus after completing a course.
Example questions:
- How much time are learners spending on a program?
- Which groups spend the most time learning?
- What is the average session length for a course or learning plan?
