Your learning platform allows you to deploy online and blended training all over the world, which is why every platform uses the Time Zone
feature, allowing you to manage different time zones in your platform. For example, if your company is based only in Italy, then your platform will be set to one specific time zone. However, if you have headquarters in many countries with different time zones, you can let your users decide their own platform time zone.
Managing Time Zone Options
Begin by accessing your platform as the Superadmin, then access the Admin Menu
in the top right corner of your platform. Then, select the Advanced Settings
item in the Settings
section. Now, from the tab menu on the left side of the page, select the Date and Time
In the Time Zone
section, you can set a default time zone using the corresponding dropdown menu. You can also flag the option to let users select the time zone of their own platforms. If you flag this option, you also need to configure an additional setting (please read more below for this option).

Please note that the default time zone that you set will be the default time zone of every user's platform, until a user manually changes the time zone of his or her own platform.
Now, move to the Date Format
section and select between the following three options:
- Use Selected Language. The date format will be set up according to the platform language of each user.
- User Selected. Each user can choose the date format from his or her own profile page.
- Force Date Format. You, as the Superadmin, can select a default date format from the dropdown menu below.
Once you're finished, press Save
. Now, if you flagged the option to let users select the time zones of their own platforms, you need to move to the Users
tab in the Advanced Settings
menu. In this tab, you need to unflag the Hide the My Profile and the Preferences sections in the user personal area for learners and Power Users, and the My Profile section only for Superadmins
option. Otherwise, your users will not be able to see the options to change the time zone and date format in their platforms.
Setting the Time Zone as a User
Users can configure their time zone when they self register
into the platform, but also after registration from their My Profile
During self registration, users can choose their time zone from the Time Zone
dropdown field in the registration form. This field is already pre populated with their browser’s time zone. Users are free to use the time zone already selected in the field, to choose another one among those listed, or to use the platform default time zone ( “-” option in the dropdown), that is the one that you as a Superadmin set in the Advanced Settings
> Date and Time
tab > Time Zone
section as already explained in this article.
Remember that in order for your users to be able to view the Time Zone field in the self registration form, and then configure their own platform time zone, you as a Superadmin need to properly configure two advanced settings:
- Flag the option to let users select the time zone of their own platforms (Advanced Settings > Date and Time tab > Time Zone section)
- Unflag the Hide the My Profile and the Preferences sections in the user personal area for learners and Power Users, and the My Profile section only for Superadmins option (Advanced Settings > Users tab > Options section)
Users will find the time zone they set during self registration on their My Profile
page, where they can change it also after registering into the platform.
To reach the field where they can set their time zone, users should log into the learning platform, select the menu icon
from the left sidebar and then select the My Profile pen icon
item at the top of the menu. Here, in the Preferences
section, users can select their preferred time zone and date format from the corresponding additional fields. Once finished, they need to press Save Changes
