Introduction
For those using test proctoring, your Docebo platform can integrate with Honorlock so that you can use its advanced proctoring features with your Docebo exams.
This article describes how to connect and configure Honorlock with Docebo for administrators.
Please note:
- Honorlock supports only the new course player
- Focus mode is not supported, Honorlock will not function if you have this feature enabled on your platform
- The Honorlock browser extension for the learner is only available for Google Chrome only. Test takers must use Google Chrome as their web browser.
- When you enable proctoring on tests, the proctoring will only be activated with new tests. Docebo cannot enable proctoring on the fly. Proctoring will only be valid for tests that have yet to start.
- There is a known issue that freezes Google Chrome when refreshing a page that contains a test in progress using the Honorlock extension. In case the test freezes and you need to restart the browser.
- The instructor's email address can only be present in one Honorlock platform globally. If during the exam review phase in Docebo, the user is created in Honorlock and this email address already exists in another Honorlock platform, a generic error will be displayed. It is necessary to move the user from the other Honorlock environment to the one being used with Docebo in order to unblock them.
- The default behaviors tracked by Honorlock are set by Honorlock, if you do not see a flag in Honorlock associated with the behaviors configurable in the Docebo for Honorlock integration, contact Honorlock to activate all behaviors. Any behavior configured to be tracked in Docebo for Honorlock but not set in Honorlock itself will not be tracked.
- All users' email addresses must be verified in your platform. This can be automated upon first login. For existing users admins need to make sure their email address is marked as verified in the users settings of the platform.
Connecting the Honorlock integration
Access the admin menu by pressing the gears icon in the top of your screen. Next, locate the Honorlock section and press Manage.
Next, to configure Honorlock initially, press the Configure Honorlock button.
In the resulting slide-in panel, enter your API key and API secret. Next, press the Confirm button.
Your Docebo for Honorlock integration is now connected.
Configuring the Honorlock integration
Setting flag thresholds
The first step after successfully connecting is configuring your integration's flags thresholds settings. The Thresholds settings tab of the Honorlock administration screen will allow you to set limits for certain flags that, when exceeded, cause the test to be automatically failed or sent for manual proctoring review.
If you would like to enable automatic failing of a test once any of the thresholds have been equalled or exceeded, select the Enable automatically invalid test exceeding threshold checkbox. Doing so will bypass the proctoring step.
By default, this integration uses all the high, medium and low flags. By setting a threshold greater than zero for each group, you activate those flags. Once the threshold has been exceeded, the test is marked for review or failure depending on the test threshold automation setting.
If you wish to limit the types of flags used to count against a test-taker to specific flags, instead of using the default Proctoring session flag thresholds option in the Threshold settings, select the Custom selection of flag types radio button. This will allow you to choose all the necessary flags, ignoring the ones you wish to not count towards a negative assessment.
Once you have selected the Custom selection of flag types radio button, you can choose your custom flag selection by pressing the Add new flag type button.
Next, in the slide-in panel, select all the types of events you wish to monitor and, when done, press the Confirm button.
Once you have selected the flags you wish to monitor for, you can set the number of flags for each item needed before the test taker is marked as failed or needing further review.
If you have added a flag by mistake, you can always press the trashcan icon at the right of the flag to delete it.
Customizing test messages
After the test has been completed, Honorlock will display a particular message for the proctoring status. The defaults for these messages are:
Condition for message | Default message text |
---|---|
The test is in Finalization status | Your session requires validation by Honorlock™ |
The test needs a proctoring review | Your session requires manual validation by an instructor. This process is not automated and the wait time may vary. |
The test is in Invalid status | Your test has been marked as invalid. The guidelines have been violated. |
If you wish to customize the message or messages that are displayed after the test has been completed, you can activate the checkbox next to the message or messages you wish to customize.
Once you activate the checkbox, you will be able to use a WYSIWYG editor for each particular message you wish to customize.
Once you have added custom messages, you will be able to activate the Translate fields switch, should you wish to also localize the custom message. As soon as you activate the Translate fields switch, a dropdown menu will appear giving you a list of languages that you can translate the custom message into. This list of languages will reflect the list of active languages in your platform. Depending on which language you select in this list, you will see the language you are currently editing displayed above the text editor for the customized test completion messages.
Configuring notification settings
By default Docebo for Honorlock does not send additional notifications beyond the error messages visible on screen in case of an issue with the integration. If you wish to change this behavior and receive notifications via email at your verified email address you may add up to five recipients by accessing the Notifications settings tab.
There, you can activate the Enable integration issue notifications setting. You will be presented with a recipients list area where you can either type the email address or press the Add Recipients button at the end of the row to select the Docebo users to be recipients of the notification via a slide-in panel.
Reviewing your API key or resetting your integration
If you wish, you can view the API key you are using with the integration or remove the integration entirely. To do so, access the Authentication tab. Your API key is displayed in a read-only field. The API secret is, for security reasons, not visible in the platform.
Please note: It is not possible to change your API key or API secret in this section as the credentials fields are read-only. If you need to change your API key or API secret, you will need to remove the Honorlock integration and start the authentication process over again.
If you wish to remove the Honorlock integration, press the Reset Credentials button. This removes the API key and API secret from the platform but does not remove other configuration steps performed allowing you to re-authenticate using different credentials without loss of data.
When you press the Reset Credentials button, you will be presented with a modal window asking you to confirm this step. Press the Reset button to confirm the resetting of your credentials, otherwise press the Cancel button.
Please note: You will not be able to access the Reset Credentials button if there is still ongoing testing being performed.
Accessing the integration logs
To access the logs for the integration, press the Logs tab. You will be presented with a list of all the proctoring activities over the course of the previous sixty days. Every event is listed and can be filtered by using the Filters button. You can download events that are completed with errors by pressing the Download button at the end of each event's row.
