What is the Chatbot?
The Docebo for Microsoft Teams Chatbot is a messaging application that has two main functionalities:
- In the Personal App Space Chat tab
- It allows you to type in commands which the bot then acts on and responds to accordingly.
- In personal Chats & Teams
- It allows you to interact with the messaging extension to search and share content.
Please note: If you try to speak to the Bot in Chats & Teams with @
commands after activation it will not work. Instead, you will receive generic response telling you to speak with it in the Personal App Chat Space.
Commands for the Chatbot in the Personal App space
When you first install the app in Microsoft Teams you will be prompted by the bot to start the paring process, if you select that message it will take you directly to the Chat space to complete your pairing.
When going to the Chat Tab for the first time there will be a guided sequence of messages and responses to help you Connect and Pair your App to your Docebo Platform.
Tip: All chatbot commands, with the exception of @
commands, are case sensitive and should only be used in lower-case.
Additionally at any time in the Chat Space you can talk with the bot using the following list of commands:
Command | Description |
---|---|
help |
Typing help will cause the chatbot to return a list of available commands. The list of commands varies depending whether or not you are currently connected to the Docebo platform. For example, if you are already connected then the connect command will not be returned. |
connect |
Typing connect will allow you to connect to your Docebo platform, allowing you to begin learning within Teams. |
disconnect |
Typing disconnect will end the connection to the Docebo platform. You will need to type connect again in order to continue learning. |
How to use the Chatbot in personal Chats and Teams tabs
To activate the Chatbot in personal Chats and Teams tabs there are multiple methods;
- Typing
@docebo
will allow you to send a message which will automatically add the Bot to the chat or team that you are in. This is the fastest and easiest way to add the bot. When done this way it will return a message saying the bot has been added and also let you know that in general the bot cannot respond to your messages here, but you can now search and share courses.Please note: The chatbot cannot be used in a personal chat window or channel, doing so will redirect the user to the chatbot in the dashboard. The bot can only be used in the main Docebo App chatspace.
- Type the
@
symbol into the chat and selecting Get Bots from the resulting pop-up menu.
If you select Get Bots it will take you to a following screen, once there, find and click on Docebo. In the resulting window, press the down arrow next to the open button and then press Add to a chat. In the following screen, select the chat you wish to include the bot in and press the Set up a bot button to activate the bot in the chat.
Once the chatbot has been successfully added to the Chat or Team tab, the users can start searching for and sharing content with each other.
If a user tries to speak to the chat bot in the Chat or Team tabs, it will return a generic message redirecting them to chat in the Personal App Space.
