DISCLAIMER: Starting from February 23, 2022, all of the Docebo platforms will adopt the enhanced cookie policy management, thus complying with the applicable regulations affecting cookies, such as the European ePrivacy directive. No action is required for Superadmins, but all users will have to accept it to access the platform.
Introduction
As of November 24, 2020, Docebo has renewed the cookie policy management in order to improve compliance with the applicable regulations affecting cookies like the European ePrivacy directive. Find out more about Cookies, GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive.
Docebo has implemented this new cookies management (called enhanced cookies management) as an option to the current cookies management so that you, as a data controller, can decide whether to keep using the current version or the enhanced version.
This article lists the changes introduced by this feature enhancement, considering the different use cases.
Enhanced Cookies Management
Docebo has updated the standard cookies management offering an enhanced management option that provides the capability to manage the platform cookies subject to consent by granting to the platform users (data subjects) the right to decide whether to give consent to statistic, non-necessary cookies.
The enhanced cookies management option is not enabled by default on platforms. Its activation must be requested to Docebo via the Help Center by opening a ticket, or by contacting your Solution Deployment Manager, if in onboarding. Enabling the enhanced cookie management means resetting the current cookie policy text and the cookie list, and configuring it from scratch. Data will not be migrated upon activating the enhanced management method.
With the enhanced cookies management, the cookies provided in Docebo platforms have been divided into:
- Necessary Cookies: these cookies help in making the platform more usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secured areas. The platform cannot work properly without these cookies, and Docebo does not allow users to disable them. These cookies are not subject to user consent.
- Statistic Cookies: these cookies help your platform to understand how users interact with it, by collecting anonymous data. These cookies are not necessary for the proper functioning of the platform but are vital for the continuous improvement of the user experience.
When activating the enhanced cookies management, users are asked to renew their consent to the cookie policy and to choose whether to give their consent only to the necessary cookies (that are exempted from consent) or to give the consent to the statistic ones too.
Upon logging into the platform, a banner on the page bottom will inform users that the platform uses cookies, so that they can give their consent (both of necessary and statistic cookies) or edit their preferences. When selecting the option to edit their preferences, users will be redirected to the cookie policy full text, and they will have the option to allow or deny the consent for statistic cookies. The cookies’ preferences can be changed at any time from the user’s main menu.
As a Superadmin, when activating the enhanced cookies management, you will not be allowed to operate changes on the table containing the list of the cookies provided by Docebo, but you will still be able to edit the cookie policy title, subtitle and content.
As with the standard management of the cookie policy, Docebo is providing the cookie policy text in English only. Superadmins can maintain and manage the English text and translate it in all of the languages used in the platform.
Standard Cookies Management
Since the granting of the right to decide whether to give consent to statistic cookies, depends on your legislation and on your users’ citizenship, you can decide whether to activate the enhanced cookies management, or to continue using this functionality as usual.
